Money Is Energy

There is a natural rhythm to the way money moves through our lives. Like everything, it has its seasons – there’s an ebb and flow. Sometimes more is coming in than you need to cover your expenses, sometimes just the opposite, or it can remain relatively equal for awhile. What we don’t often think about is how our relationship with money reflects the flow of energy in our lives.

Have you ever looked at your beliefs about money? What did you see and hear from your parents, friends, the media, or society in general while you were growing up? What did you experience? Was there enough money to do the things you wanted? In your family, who were the savers and who were the spenders? (And who do you take after?) Was money a subject of conflict, struggle or avoidance? How do you see these ideas about money playing out in your life today?

Whatever is happening in your life right now – even if you are struggling to “make ends meet” or to get ahead – chances are the universe is working to help you realize your own core beliefs about money. Try not to make yourself, or anyone else, wrong as you look at these patterns; just observe the relationship between your beliefs and your life experience. Once you begin to bring these ideas into the light of your conscious mind, you can clear and release the ones that no longer serve you.

How about this one: “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” Sound familiar? Do you believe that making money is hard work, that it requires struggle, or that you have to do things you don’t really want to do in order to survive? Do you think, deep down, that there is really not enough to go around and that rich people are greedy, unethical, or spiritually bankrupt? Is money the “root of all evil?” If you do hold these kinds of beliefs, and your outer world reflects your inner one, how do you think money is likely to manifest itself in your life?

If you knew for certain that you lived in an abundant universe – one that works with you to bring your intentions to life – how would this change the way you think about money?

Money in itself is neither good nor bad. It is only a manifestation of your relationship with energy. While early conditioning may have powerful effects on your relationships with money later in life, this is mainly true because you absorb and adopt these beliefs about the world around you without even realizing it. As adults, we rarely stop to look at what we believe about money, let alone recognize the source of these beliefs, or consciously choose the ones that will help to create the experiences we desire.

Sometimes, there is a hidden “pay off” in the circumstances you have created. For one thing, you almost always grow in some way from your experience. (At least, the opportunity is there.) Some people can only learn to receive what they really want by first “getting their fill” of what they don’t want. Be honest with yourself. Are there things that scare you about having a lot of money? Do you feel your life would change too much or that it would be too much responsibility? Many of us hold a secret fear – often promoted by religious teaching – that we might be so seduced by material pleasures that we would lose touch with our humanity if we had real money. You may also be afraid of compromising close relationships by being more successful than your friends and family members, or think that people will seek you out for the wrong reasons if you have money and you won’t “know who your friends are.”

Think of some ways you can reinforce your new beliefs every day until they “take hold,” like new seeds in the garden. And be patient with yourself. Remember that the circumstances you are experiencing now come from your past thoughts and actions. The way you choose to think about money now will manifest for you in the future.

Know that the subconscious mind does not know the difference between your “real” and imagined thoughts. When you perceive the world around you, your brain prioritizes the sensory information that corresponds best with your world views. In short, we see what we expect to see. As you realize the power this holds for you to create your own reality, you may want to take a look at your beliefs in every area of your life.

Couldn’t you do a lot more good in the world with money than without it?

Money is only energy. How you handle it is up to you. The key is to consciously decide. When your beliefs are aligned with your clear intentions and a burning desire, no external force will stop you from having the life that you choose.
